[Luca, who generally likes Giuseppe and his mischievous and furby possessing ways, gives a smile of approval when he hears him included in the head count. Then, grabbing one of the glasses of monster, Luca takes a huge drink.]
All right, let's do this! How should we start? With a game? We should play a game.
[Then an idea pops into his head. He knows what kinds of games he and Alberto play, but he figures Luz probably has exciting and unique human games that are played at this kind of party.]
Luz, what kind of games do humans usually play when they're doing something like this?
[So dealing with the fact that Eda had, in fact, not disappeared but certainly did forget she was ever even dimly associated with the Boiling Isles was still enough of a reason to leave, though Luz still did come by the Owlery to check in on Eda now and again.
And now she was here, with Luca and Alberto anyway! They had their own way of living here, and once she was used to Giuseppe and Annabelle, they got accustomed to Luz's housemates: one Lucratis Pokemon and a Kriktune. They tended to make music at odd times, but were generally pretty nice! There was also the Palisman egg Luz had, but that was wrapped in a warm blanket, resting comfortably on a nearby shelf.
As for Luz, while last month had certainly been a kick to the throat, she was at least starting to feel a little bit happier, and today was a good day to relax after a long bout of studying and exam taking last month. Plus, it was Pride month, something Luyz fully intended on taking advantage of! Luz happily collapsed partly onto the bed, in her star pajama bottom pants with felt socks].
Hmm? Oh, well, we usually do pillow fights, but we can also do truth or dare and eat a lot of junk food.
[She did take a sip of the iced Monster and shivered].
Ahh. I think I felt my heart skip a little. Nice music, maestro!
[ Alberto smiles to himself watching Luca, always smitten any time he sees Luca getting excited and energetic. But when Luz gets shivers from the ice cold energy drink, he turns his smile on her, crinkling his nose teasingly. ]
That's when you know the energy's working.
[ Because of course Alberto loves that feeling... He may or may not have a caffeine problem in Kaisou. If he does, it's so over-the-top it's probably evened him out to a normal level again by now. But he loves that kickstart~ He plops down beside Luca (nearer to him than he needs to be, so that their legs touch), and coyly sips his own Monster, holding it with both hands, smirking at Luz behind the lip of the glass. He has no clue what pillow fights or truth or dare are, but he figures he's about to find out — because far be it for Alberto, even after all this time, to own up to just not knowing something. At least he knows he's got the junk food part down pat...! ]
[While he's not sure whether a pillow fight is when you try to make two pillows fight, if you try and fight a pillow, or if you fight using pillows, Luca has some idea that fighting and pillows are involved. Truth or dare, on the other hand, is a total mystery to him.]
Truth or dare? How do you play that?
[When Alberto plops down next to him, Luca leans in even closer to Alberto, clearly very comfortable with the close proximity.]
[Welp. Looks like it was time to give these boys a crash course in sleepovers, wasn't it]?
Ok, so, pillow fights we'll talk about later, its way easier to grasp. Now, truth or dare, that's a little more complicated? Basically, you make the choice when it's your turn: tell the truth, no matter how embarrassing the question, or take the dare. The dare means whatever you're asked to do, you HAVE to do."
Luz paused. "Actually, now that I say it aloud? That's easy to understand too."
I thought you might. Ok then, Alberto. Let's start with an easy one. Luca, gonna need your help with this one.
[Yes, she is subtly pushing them together, but also she WAS going to need the help].
Alberto, you see that swivel chair? Go sit there, hands on your knees, ok?
[She turned to Luca with a grin].
Ok, you're going to spin that chair, and I'm timing it for thirty seconds. Alberto, your dare is after Luca spins you, you have to walk a straight line.
[ He listens along curiously, but his smirk slowly turns more to a subtle look of confusion — where's she going with this...? But then when she comes to the dare, he can't help but snort in laughter. He spins in that chair all the time as it is. Every time he sits down at his desk to draw or do homework or study, he's spinning — frankly, he spins more than he studies... He's got this. He gets up and struts over, sitting in it over-animatedly, rather elegantly, fully prepared to succeed. ]
Oh. I've got this. I'm great at spinning — and walking.
[ He grins at Luca as he comes up to spin him — no doubt they've done this together before just... for funsies... But not with any walking challenge in mind, Alberto usually just spins himself dizzy and enjoys the wobbliness, because why not. He grips the seat cushion to keep his balance, and tries to, uh, make himself light...? ]
Okay, Luca, spin me as fast as you can! Forza!
[ So he can be as dizzy as possible and still ace this...!
...Except he doesn't. Because about 25 seconds in, the chair decides it's had enough abuse from Alberto, and breaks. There's a loud snap as something plastic in the seat gives way, and Alberto topples sideways, letting out a scream in surprise. He stays seated in the broken chair for a second and just gapes at Luca, then Luz, then Luca again... then bursts out laughing. Peals of laughter. They've got other chairs, whatever – still fun. And in any case, he probably found this thing in the trash over a year ago, so, this checks out...
Still, the dare is at hand! When he hears the 30-second timer Luz had set go off, Alberto clumsily pushes himself out of the broken chair, which gives another threatening creak as he stands, and proceeds to walk in a straight line with relative ease. Maybe a little wobbly at first. But hey, man, he just had a brush with death...! Cut him some slack. He reaches where he'd been sitting on the pillows, smug smirk on his face the whole walk, then gives a theatrical little bow, and flops backwards onto the pillows triumphantly. Totally nailed it. ]
[When Luca hears what the dare is, he grins. That's the sort of fun thing the two of them do all the time, anyway! Once Alberto gives him the okay to start spinning, Luca gives a firm not and responds.]
All right!
[He then begins spinning Alberto as fast as he can! Until it breaks. He jumps and yelps at the sudden snap and looks at Alberto, concerned...until he sees Alberto is just fine. And laughing. Relieved, Luca joins in on the laughing and then watches as Alberto completes the challenge. He then starts jumping up and down, clapping enthusiastically.]
[Luz was going easy at first, and they just so happened to have a revolving chair! Granted, she was concerned when it broke, but once she was Alberto rise up unperturbed. she chuckled and rose up, giving him a look over].
Ok, good, no skin breaking. Maybe that was a little dangerous, but that's...this place, I guess.
Anyway! That was awesome, Alberto! But NO-OW, you can ask truth or dare to me OR Luca! Go make your choice!
[ "Maybe that was a little dangerous, but that's... this place, I guess" — though Kaisou itself has its own, uh, pitfalls, this could just as easily be said about Alberto and Luca's apartment... Their Barbie Dream Death-trap. At least they stopped trying to duct tape macramé jars hanging from the ceiling, since the jars just kept randomly falling and shattering. But they only gave up that fight after almost a year of diligently trying to make it work... They used to just... deal with random exploding glass... nbd. Now their biggest risk-runner is Giuseppe the ghost — and, uh, Alberto, himself. Probably neck and neck with the poltergeist as far as property damage goes, though. ]
Hmmm... You. Truth or dare, Luz?
[ He hums thoughtfully, then figures he'll keep the spotlight on Luz. She's still kinda giving the tutorial, after all, still having a rough month, and frankly the novelty of having her stay with them just hasn't worn off on Alberto yet, so he's still funneling his attention toward her a bit, though he doesn't realize he's doing it. ]
[That threw her for a loop. She thought for sure he'd chose Luca, because, well, obvious reasons. Now that he chose HER though, she was going to give them time to think up a good dare for her. That way, they could do both and see how they faired].
[ As Luca and Luz both stare at Alberto expectantly, Alberto stares back at Luz blankly for a moment, as if waiting for her to just volunteer embarrassing information on her own. And when she doesn't just blurt something out... ]
Oh! I ask you for the truth.
[ Even Truth or Dare has more rules than any games Alberto grew up playing. His games were essentially "die or not die." He hums thoughtfully, stroking his chin exaggeratedly and turning his gaze skywards, eyes narrowed, like this is a Very Serious Question. ]
...What's the dumbest way you've ever hurt yourself?
[ A la breaking a chair by spinning too vigorously. Not even an embarrassing mishap. A little nothing in Alberto's book of stupid shit he's done for fun that turns out wrong. Doesn't occur to Alberto that that question might not just be an entertaining story about Luz jumping off something tall for a quick thrill. For him, interpreting "truth, no matter how embarrassing the question," goes straight to 'What Did He Used To Get In Trouble For?' — which, more often than not, was risking injury in dumb ways. ]
Yup! Once you've done your T.o.D., you get to inflict the truth or the dare!
[Which meant, of course, that Luz was going to have to go for Luca next.
Ah. This question]!
Oh, that's an easy one! When I first was trying to get into Hexside, I had to show the school principal that I could do magic. I managed to do it with the glyphs, but scared that wouldn't be enough, I did the old "flip my eyelids inside out" trick, and got an eyelash in my eye. I slipped on my own melted ice, got tangled in my own cape and fell into the principal's lap, and then my ice glyph lifted me up and slammed me into the ground, face first!
I thought for sure I'd killed any chance I had, but apparently the principal had seen worse, and I was able to go!
Heh! Wow. I feel...real dumb, saying it out loud now.
[ Alberto listens intently, trying to imagine this fiasco. He offers a sympathetic grimace but he can't hide his smile, either, amused at all this. ]
Thaaat sounds like something that'd happen to me, ha.
[ He reaches over and knocks on the glass of the coffee table, a familiar rhythm as any time he knocks for luck — knock, knock, knock knock knock, knock on wood — hitting his own head with the final knock. A la You-Know-Who. It's equal parts habit and sincere belief now. He leans back in the cushions again, lounging comfortably as he poses an important lingering question. ]
Luz, that's amazing, ahah. Brava. But: what do you guys mean by "flipping your eyelids inside-out...?" Is that an expression?
[ Clearly not a human one, if it's used in the Boiling Isles and Luca seems to know just what she means... There's still random blips of societal living in general Alberto's not clued into. Always learning. One thing or another. And tonight, apparently, it's, uh... this. ]
[Luz remembered it was just yesterday, laughing a little a the memory. It was honestly something that was only a little embarrassing really, because all of the memories afterward endeared her to the school and the principal anwyay].
Hopefully not! Learn from my example and stick to your strengths!
[Luz smiles knowingly at the gesture, then grins a little at the query].
Oh, THAT? It's pretty easy! You just sorta lift your eyelids slightly, keep the fold of skin and-bleep bloop bleep bloop!
[She did it! Yup. It's still slightly gross, and Luz is reveling in it]!
Looks like it's my turn, and I throw the question to YOU, Luca! Truth? Or DARE?
[Yeah, it's kind of gross, so...uh...he's really sure that wouldn't have helped her get in even if it wasn't for the awkward outcome. But that doesn't matter now. Now he's got to pick truth or dare. He hesitates for a moment, before deciding maybe just admitting something might be easier than doing a stunt like Alberto did.]
Um...truth!
[We'll let Alberto's reply slide after this one, if that's ok]?
[Yup, sometimes you just couldn't take Luz anywhere! But onto the question now. Luz took a moment to think about it, and then looked around the place a moment before finally coming up with her question].
What's the one item you hope no one finds in your room?
